Posted: It seemed to be a mother bear and cub eating rice. They noticed a car and returned to the mountains. The road was close.

A bear about 1.5 m tall was seen by a resident driving by climbing a chestnut tree in a rice field in Tahei Nakane Teranaka. Closest building about 30 m away. The East Police Station went to verify on-site, but the bear had already left; destination unknown.

Posted: While driving down a slope, about 10 m ahead a bear sprang onto the road from a 3 m high embankment on the left and slowly ran into a chestnut forest beyond the curve. The chestnuts there seem finished, but this corridor is presumed for movement. The chestnut grove leads to many houses, which is dangerous.

Sighted one bear crossing the prefectural road from south to north. The bear was about 1 m in length; its movement after that is unknown. The nearest house is about 200 m away.

An Akita East Hospital staff member witnessed one bear in the woods on the west side of the premises. It was about 1 m; the bear headed west into the woods.
