While driving on Route 7, I witnessed a bear about 1–1.5 m long trotting crosswise toward the museum and then entering the woods. Other cars slowed and waited for it to cross, so quite a few people must have seen it. I’m reporting this because I didn’t find any sighting information posted.

At around 15:30 on May 15, 2026, a bear entered the first floor of a building in Nagashima 1-chome, Aomori City, prompting people inside to evacuate to upper floors. Police and government hunters carried out an emergency shooting and culled one adult male bear about 1 meter long.

A bear is believed to be occupying the first floor of a mixed-use commercial building in central Aomori City, leaving more than 10 people (patrons of a pharmacy and a hotel) trapped. A bear was also sighted at a parking lot about 300 meters away around the same time, possibly a different individual, and Aomori City is considering emergency shooting to eliminate the very high risk of human injury.

On May 15 between about 4:30 and 5:00 a.m., multiple sightings of an Asian black bear (tsukinowaguma) were reported near the Aomori Prefectural Office in Aomori City. The city has warned residents via social media and is maintaining vigilance while considering emergency shooting operations.
