On the afternoon of November 2 in Fujino, Minami Ward, Sapporo, a cub-sized bear (about 50–72 cm) was repeatedly sighted in a residential area. Hunters fired shots at 16:20 and 16:30 and killed one bear; the culled animal was confirmed to be a 72 cm male cub born this year.

Hunters and police were dispatched and the bear was reported to have been roaming the area until around 15:00, with multiple calls made.
