On the morning of October 20, 2025, a roughly 1.3-meter bear appeared near Yuzawa Station in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture, injuring four men in their 50s–70s at streets, a hotel parking lot, and a private home. The fourth victim, 65-year-old Hiroshi Takahashi, opened his door and was bitten on the right leg as the bear entered his house; the bear remained inside the residence for five days and was captured on October 25.
