On November 20, 2025 at about 19:00, a high school boy walking home in a residential area at Ishiyama 1-jo 3-chome, Minami Ward, Sapporo, sighted one bear on the road (estimated about 1.7 m). Later at around 22:30 people on a bridge reported a "black mass" in nearby bushes; the city's trace investigation found no bear signs and concluded a deer was more likely.

Around 01:30 on November 19, 2025, a high school boy walking home in a residential area at Ishiyama 1-jo 3-chome, Minami-ku, Sapporo, sighted a single bear about 1.7 m long some 15 meters away on the road. The bear then moved into vegetation along the Toyohira River. The city planned to conduct a trace survey the following day.
