In Sendai's Aoba Ward (Sakuragaoka 8-chome), at around 03:25 on the 14th a female newspaper delivery worker spotted a bear about 1 meter long. At 09:20 a man also saw a similar-sized bear on a promenade in Mizu no Mori Park; nearby schools and a nursery implemented group dismissals or halted outdoor activities, and there were no injuries.

Around 23:30 on April 3, a single bear about 1 meter long was sighted near the Izumi-Kamo Post Office in Kamo 2-chome, Izumi Ward, Sendai; residents reported it to the police. The bear walked off toward the woods of Chomeikan Park, and no injuries were reported.

According to police, at around 18:30 on the 27th a single bear was sighted at Tohoku Seikatsu Bunka University in Nijinooka, Izumi Ward, Sendai. The bear came out from the university grounds onto the road and left toward the woods to the south; police are patrolling the area and urging caution.
