Around 01:25 on 30 December 2025, two bears—about 1.5 meters and about 80 cm in length—were sighted by nearby residents in woodland in Minamunakayama 6-chome, Izumi Ward, Sendai. The bears left the scene; no injuries or damage were reported and police have urged caution in the area.
