In the early morning of August 20, 2025, a male bear over 1 meter long was caught in a box trap in Kaminuma, Nakata, Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture. Peaches had been eaten in an orchard on August 17, and the bear was captured in a box trap set by the city and the local hunters' association; it growled and showed threatening behavior inside the metal cage.
