At around 14:45 on November 19, 2025, an approximately 60 cm bear was sighted on a city road in Akanuma, Noshirocho, Noshiro City by an elderly man in his 80s who was walking. The nearest house was about 10 meters away; authorities were notified and police patrolled and broadcast warnings to residents.
