At about 05:40 on November 7, a man in his 40s walking his dog near Fukuzumi 1-chome in Chitose City saw a brown bear about 1.8 meters long crossing the road. The bear left toward residential areas to the north; police are patrolling the area in cooperation with hunters, and an elementary school about 600 meters away has called for escorts and group arrivals while staff conduct patrols.
