From the night of December 22 to the early morning of December 23, 2025, multiple bear sightings were reported in the residential area of Iwakiri in Miyagino Ward, Sendai. There were no injuries; the Miyagi Prefectural Police Sendai East Station believes the sightings were of the same individual. A resident reported seeing the bear on private property in Iwakiri 3-chome at around 19:05 on the 22nd.
