At around 14:10 on November 30, 2025, one bear was seen in a persimmon tree near residences in Izumigo, Higashine City, Yamagata Prefecture, eating persimmons. Believed to be a cub, the city considered emergency shooting but did not authorize it; the bear was later culled as a nuisance animal after about 16:00.
