On Tuesday, June 2, at approximately 7:20 p.m., in the area of Nanatsumori, Bandai, Bandai-machi, a female witness driving on a town road sighted one bear (approximately 50 cm in body length). The bear then crossed the town road from the sighting location and left into the grove of scrub trees to the south.

Around 15:00 on April 11, 2026, a single bear about 80 cm long was sighted crossing a prefectural road (Major Local Road Inawashiro-Shiogawa Line) north to south in Sarashina, Bandai Town, Fukushima. The bear went into rice fields on the south side of the road and its whereabouts are unknown; no injuries or property damage have been reported. Police have shared information with the town, are patrolling the area by patrol car, and have urged residents to be cautious.

On November 16, 2025 at around 08:05, an elderly man in his 80s removing an electric fence on a farm road in Bandai (Bandai Town), Fukushima, was attacked by a single bear about 1 meter long, suffering injuries to the back of his head and his right leg. Other workers shouted and the bear left for the woods; the man was taken to hospital, conscious but having difficulty walking.
