On the morning of November 13, 2025, a single bear about 75 cm long was spotted in a persimmon tree on private property in Teraizumi, Nagai City, and about 200 meters later was seen again in another persimmon tree. Municipal staff and hunters responded, and at 07:10 an emergency shooting was authorized by the forestry official to cull the bear; there were no human injuries.

At around 15:50 on November 12, 2025, a cub about 75 cm long was spotted by a resident in a persimmon tree on private property in Teraizumi, Nagai City, and remained there after sunset. The city, police, and the local hunters' association kept watch and searched; at about 07:10 on November 13 the cub was found in a field roughly 200 meters northwest of the sighting and was put down by emergency gunfire by members of the hunters' association.
