In a field in Momonai 1-chome, Otaru, hunters attempting to dispatch a roughly 1.8-meter male bear caught in a deer trap were attacked when the trap came loose; two male hunters in their 60s and 70s suffered bleeding from their thighs. The bear was then shot again and killed, and the two hunters were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
