At about 11:05 on March 23, two bears (approximately 1.5 m and 1.0 m long) were seen wandering in a vacant lot at Moriya Aza Tachiguchi in Sukagawa City. The two bears then moved into the nearby forest to the north; no damage has been reported. Police are patrolling the area by patrol car and urging residents to be cautious.

Around 16:00 on the 23rd, a single bear was seen up a persimmon tree along the Sunoko River at Naganuma, Sukagawa City, by a man in his 60s who was out walking. The man returned home and later checked again but the bear was gone; no injuries were reported and police have urged caution.
