On 2025-11-18, two bears believed to be a parent and cub stayed for an extended time in a persimmon tree in a residential area of Iwaizumi, Iwate. The prefectural police rifle team was deployed, but did not fire and no culling occurred due to sunset. There were no sightings on the 19th and residents felt relieved but remained uneasy about possible reappearance.

Around 06:00 on November 17, 2025, an adult bear and a cub were seen in a persimmon tree on private residential grounds in Iwaizumi, Iwate, remaining in the tree while eating persimmons. The site is about 60 m west of the Tsuruha Drug Iwaizumi store and roughly 200 m from Iwaizumi Elementary School; no human or property injuries have been reported and police and municipal authorities are on alert.
