Fujinomiya City and the hunters set a box trap and captured and euthanized a male bear about 1.4 m long two days later. The day after the bear was euthanized, bear footprints were found in the schoolyard of Uchibo Elementary School, and the school locked entrances, suspended outdoor activities, and had children attach bells to their backpacks as countermeasures.

In Fuji-no-miya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, a mature male Asiatic black bear (tsukinowaguma) measuring 140 cm and estimated at 150 kg was caught in a drum-type trap set near inhabited mountain woodland in the Uchibo district and was culled by hunters on October 27 at 16:30. The city believes this individual is likely the same one reported sighted since October 13, is maintaining vigilance, and has implemented measures at Uchibo Elementary School such as escorting students and locking the first floor.
