Around 19:00 on November 3, 2025, a dormitory student at Ichinoseki KOSEN heard bear-like cries near the budokan. On the morning of November 4, staff found footprints believed to be from a bear on the baseball field; the school was closed until November 7 and club activities suspended until November 9. Since October, there have been repeated sightings of a bear parent and cub in the area.
