Shortly after 17:00 on March 20, in Shibecha Town a motorist saw a single bear about 1 m long on the roadside of a prefectural road. The bear slowly crossed directly in front of the car and disappeared into bushes on the right; there were no injuries or damage to people or vehicles.

On the morning of November 17, 2025, a pastured cow was found at a farm in Shibecha, Hokkaido with an approximately 40 cm laceration on its right leg. The wound involved muscle rupture and heavy bleeding; it was sutured as first aid, and authorities warned the injury may have been caused by a bear or wild dog.
