Around 17:45 on the 3rd, a woman driving a car in Niida, Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture, saw a single bear about 1 meter long crossing the road. The bear then headed toward a field to the south, and no notable damage has been reported in the area.

On December 1, a single bear about 1 meter long was sighted near the main gate of Niita Elementary School in Sukagawa, Fukushima. Around 08:20 it was seen under a persimmon tree west of the gate, and again after 16:00 in a field west of the gate; in both cases the bear walked into the woods to the west and no damage was reported.
