On November 20 at about 06:50, a cub was found caught in a box trap in Shiraiwa, Sagae City, and later an adult bear was sighted in a nearby field. Because the area is residential and about 200 meters from Shiraiwa Elementary School, local hunters carried out emergency shooting and removed both bears shortly before 09:00.
