Around 08:00 on December 15, 2025, a juvenile bear about 50 cm long appeared in brush beside a national road in Hinodecho, Miyako City. Members of the hunters' association and city staff caught it with a net, secured it in a trap, there were no injuries or property damage, and the bear was later released into the mountains.
