At around 11:40 a.m. on the 21st, a woman at the Mount Shinobu parking lot in Oyama (Hayama), Fukushima City, observed a single bear-like animal about 50 cm long crossing a mountain path. According to the Fukushima Police, the animal left toward the woods to the north.

Just after noon on the 9th, a man in his 40s spotted three bears believed to be a parent and two cubs (one about 1.5 m, two about 50 cm) near the foot of a bridge on a city road in Maruko, Fukushima. The bears moved into a residential area to the north and have not been seen since; no injuries or property damage have been reported. Police and Fukushima City conducted patrols and warned residents and the nearby high school.

At around 12:15 PM on the 9th, a passerby reported three bears on a city road in Maruko Shitanda, Fukushima City, to the Northern Police. The sighting occurred in a residential area near Fukushima Commercial High School and Kamata Elementary School; one bear was about 1.5 m long and two about 0.5 m, believed to be a mother and cubs, moving toward the housing area. The police and city searched the area and urged residents to stay indoors.
