On April 9, 2026, two bear sightings were reported in Nakata-machi, Koriyama City, Fukushima. The first, at about 17:45 in Shimoeda Atagomae, involved two bears approx. 1 m in length; the second, around 21:00 in Nakatsugawa Machida-mae, involved a single bear about 70 cm crossing the Ono–Koriyama prefectural road and entering the mountains. Koriyama City urged residents not to leave fruit, vegetables, or food waste outdoors and to avoid outdoor activity in the morning and evening.

On April 5 in Miharu town there were multiple bear sightings. At 20:20 a bear about 0.6 m long was seen in grass beside the Miharu-Sukagawa main local road at Saito Nii-do and moved toward the riverbed; earlier at around 18:00 a bear about 0.8 m long was seen on a town road at Minami Narita Chiyokawa and moved into the eastern forest. No human or property damage was confirmed, and police reported the information to the town office and carried out patrols and public notices around the area.
