Today, April 27, around 5:00 PM, there was a neighborhood report that a bear appeared in the field just behind the daycare, so please be careful. A bear had also been sighted in a nearby field a few days ago, so this is being reported to warn people who walk on roads around the area.

Neighborhood report: Someone from a nearby nursery told neighbors they received information that a person doing farm work near the sighting location saw a bear around 4:00 PM on April 23. I often walk along the farm road around these fields and had noticed round footprints about 15 cm across crossing the field a little while ago, so I suspected it might be a bear. This sighting hasn’t been reported on the local disaster radio or in the newspaper, but since other people also walk around here, I’m reporting it to raise awareness.

This is secondhand information. A neighbor said they were told by people at the nearby nursery that someone saw a bear in a field very close by at around 4:00 PM on the 23rd, and that the nursery was advised to be cautious. I often walk around this area and have noticed round footprints about 15 cm across crossing a field, which made me suspicious. I haven't seen this sighting reported in the local newspapers, but I'm reporting it here to raise awareness.

While driving west on National Route 102, there was a single Asiatic black bear (tsukinowaguma) in a small grove on the right (north) side.

On April 16, 2026 at around 10:30 a.m., a bear about 1 meter long was seen in Yamasaki, Horochi, Towada City, and at around 11:25 a.m. another approximately 1-meter bear was sighted near Umanarashi-ba Kamimachi in Towada City. No damage was reported in either case, and the city has urged nearby residents and passersby to be cautious.
