Around 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, in Akai, Minato-machi, Aizuwakamatsu City, a witness (male, in his 70s) was checking an electric fence being installed near a rice paddy when he spotted two bears (each about 1 meter in body length) climbing trees in the woodland to the south of the rice paddy. The two bears later moved deeper into the mountains.

On Saturday, May 30 at around 6:20 p.m., in Sasayamahara, Minato-machi, Aizuwakamatsu City, a witness (male in his 70s) working in a field sighted one bear (about 80 cm in body length) walking through some brush. The bear went into the brush on the west side and its subsequent movements are unknown.

Around 12:15 PM on August 18, in Kanebori area, Ichinomiya, Aizu-Wakamatsu City, a male in his 40s at home heard a noise from outside, checked, and observed one bear about 50 cm long between the main house and a shed. The bear later climbed a tree in the yard, and its subsequent movements are unknown.
