On Monday, June 2, 2025, at around 5:00 PM, a sighting of a small animal believed to be a bear was reported on the road in Takashiba area of Daigo Town, on the Ibaraki Prefecture Northern Regional Farm Road (Apple Line). On June 3, after experts reviewed dashcam footage, it was determined to be an Asiatic black bear (subadult). Also on June 3, members of the hunters’ association confirmed bear tracks near the sighting location.
