At around 18:10 on May 20, a bear about 1 m long was sighted on the riverbank near Iwakiri Ohashi on the Nanakita River in Iwakiri, Miyagino Ward, Sendai; within about 20 minutes there were three reports extending to the Imaichi Bridge area. After hunters set off firecrackers after 20:00, the bear emerged from a thicket and moved westward; no further sightings or damages have been confirmed.

Around 20:30 on December 22 a single bear was seen in the garden of a residence in Iwakiri 3-chome, Miyagino Ward, Sendai, and it was sighted again on the road in Iwakiri 1-chome in the early hours of December 23. Police, the city and hunters patrolled near Iwakiri Elementary School; footprints toward the Nanakitagawa River were found and no injuries have been reported.

Between the night of December 22 and early morning of December 23, 2025, a single bear about 1.5 m to 1.2 m long was repeatedly sighted in the residential Iwakiri area of Miyagino Ward, Sendai. The Sendai East Police Station, treating it as the same individual, patrolled and warned residents; no injuries were reported. Nearby elementary and junior high schools saw parents accompany children to school.
