On Thursday, June 25 at about 6:00 p.m., an eyewitness (male, in his 80s) saw one bear (approximately 1 m in body length) crossing the road from the forest while doing farm work in the forested area of Nakata, Asahimuryo, Aizumisato Town. The bear ran back into the forest to the west, and its subsequent movements are unknown.

The bear ran from that location toward the forested area to the east, and its subsequent whereabouts are unknown.

The witness struck windows and the like, and the bear ran toward a neighboring house’s storehouse. Police and municipal officials checked the scene but the bear was already gone and its whereabouts are unknown.
