At around 06:10 on February 18, 2026, a driver reported seeing two bears (believed to be a parent and cub), about 1.5 m and 1 m long, standing in grass beside a municipal road in Shiomi, Mukawa. Police patrolled the area but did not find the bears; no traces or damage have been reported and vigilance around the area has been increased.
