At around 11:15 a.m. on the 11th, at a residence in Shimokitate Samukawa (Aza Niiyama), Akita City, a single bear about 1.2 meters long attacked and dragged off a pet female Shiba dog together with its doghouse, as witnessed by the homeowner in her 70s. The doghouse was later found near woodland but the Shiba remains missing; the Akita East Police Station is investigating.
