At around 07:00 on May 20, 2026, a person in a car spotted a bear-like animal about 80 cm long run onto a prefectural road in Ayaki, Mitoucho, Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The animal left heading south; there were no injuries, and police have warned residents and increased patrols.
