At around 03:10 on November 11, 2025, a man driving a passenger car spotted a bear about 1 meter long crossing the road in Ikadachi-kita Aza, Ōtsu City. The bear ran toward the mountains after being illuminated by the car's headlights, and police and the city have warned nearby residents to be cautious.
