At around 03:25 on the 3rd, a report was received of a bear-like animal about 80 cm long sighted near the Kobashira Rural Community Center, Chichibu (approximately 150 m northeast), illuminated by a roadside lamp as it moved into the woods. The hunters' association and authorities inspected the scene but found no footprints or traces; residents have been asked to remain cautious. A similar ~80 cm sighting was reported nearby on the 26th of the previous week.
