At around 03:50 on January 3, 2026, a man in his 70s sighted a bear-like animal about 0.5 meters long crossing the grounds of a house on the north side of the prefectural road in Iizaki, Odaka Ward, Minamisoma City, and entering nearby brush. No human or property damage has been reported, and police, in coordination with the city office, are patrolling by patrol car and warning nearby residents.
