At around 07:55 on May 16, 2026, a man in Misato Town, Akita Prefecture, spotted a bear about 1 meter long walking on a town road in Tsuchizaki, Ueno-otsu. According to the Daisen police, the location was about 200 meters east of Chihata Elementary School, and the police have urged residents to be cautious.
