Around 06:00 on November 17, at a private property in Moriyamashita, Koike, Gojome Town, Akita Prefecture, a resident in his 70s found his pet Labrador retriever dead with bite wounds to the abdomen. Bear droppings were found nearby and the dog showed bite marks believed to be from a bear, so the police consider it a bear-related incident.

Around 06:00 on November 17, 2025, a pet Labrador Retriever (female, 8 years old, approx. 70 cm) was found dead outside its doghouse at a residence in Koike, Gojome Town, Akita Prefecture. The dog had bite marks on its left leg and an open abdomen; bear droppings were found nearby, and police suspect a bear attack.
