Noheji Machi Rekishi Minzoku Shiryoukan

On November 13, 2025 at about 09:30, a scallop fisherman returning to port filmed a bear swimming in Mutsu Bay off Noheji Town, Aomori. The fisheries cooperative reported it and, at their request, a hunters' association boarded a fishing vessel and culled the bear; it was an adult male about 1.5 m long and 140 kg, there were no human injuries, and the town said the cull was conducted under the prefecture's hunting season rather than as an emergency shooting.
