Around 09:40 on April 30, 2026, a bear about 1 meter long was sighted on the roadside of a prefectural road near Shimo-Hamayama, Tenno, Katagami City, by a man in his 40s driving a car from Akita City. According to the Gojome Police, the nearest house is about 50 meters away; patrol cars issued warnings and urged residents to be cautious.
