Around 19:10 on the 27th, on a prefectural road in Tenno, Katagami City, a police car heading to a reported bear sighting collided with a single bear about 1.5 m long that suddenly appeared from the left; the bear walked away afterward and the three officers in the patrol car were uninjured.

Around 14:40 on December 15, 2025, a man in his 70s at home spotted a single bear about 1 meter long on the grounds of a residence in Shimonedeto, Tennō, Katagami City, Akita Prefecture. Gojome Police contacted relevant agencies and are patrolling and broadcasting warnings by patrol car to alert residents.
