At around 07:10 on the 21st, a commuter in the residential area of Asahigaoka 3-chome, Aoba Ward, Sendai, saw a bear-like animal about 70 cm long crossing the road. Later that evening, two bears were also sighted on the Hirose River riverside (Reiyashita), prompting police to increase patrols and schools to issue warnings.
