The bear walked north and left the area; there were no injuries or reported damage, and a follow-up investigation by Sapporo city found no tracks or other traces.

At about 18:10 on March 26, 2026, a woman walking a dog in Miyanomori 4-jo 12-chome, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, sighted a brown bear about 1.5–2.0 m long crossing a city road and entering the woods. Bear-like footprints were found nearby; police increased patrols and warned residents. On March 28 at around 14:00, a 7-year-old boy in Teine Tomioka, Teine Ward, Sapporo, reported seeing a roughly 1 m long bear-like animal, but no traces were confirmed by on-site checks.

At around 19:45 on November 10, 2025, one brown bear was sighted in a residential area at Miyanomori 2-jo 11-chome in Chuo Ward, Sapporo, and footprints about 11 cm wide were found on nearby snow-covered roads. Police and city officials responded; no injuries have been reported. Footprints and sightings were also recorded near Maruyama Zoo and Hokkaido Jingu on Nov 9–10, and authorities are treating it as possibly the same individual and maintaining precautions.
