The bear's direction of departure is unknown; there were no human injuries. Police are patrolling the area and issuing public notices.

On the morning of the 18th, a single Asiatic black bear appeared in central Morioka. Around 06:10 it rammed the automatic doors of the Iwate Education Hall, then entered the rooftop parking of the DCM Sennan store in Mukanakano; it was immobilized with a tranquilizer dart about three hours later. There were no injuries or property damage; the bear was an adult male about 1.5 m long and the city intends to dispose of it.
