On November 2, 2025, three elderly people working in fields in Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture, were successively attacked by a bear. At about 09:40 a.m., city councilor Kazuhide Miyano (76) was attacked by an approximately 1-meter bear in a field in Towada-Oyu, suffering injuries to his face and right arm; around 10:50 a.m. a man in his 70s in a rice field in Hanawa was bitten on his left hand and right leg, and an woman in her 80s in Towada-Yamane had her head scratched and was transported to a hospital. All could speak and were not believed to be in life-threatening condition; the attack sites were about 1.5 km apart, suggesting the possibility of different animals.

In a mountain forest, about 80 cm long; up to 160 m to houses. While moving along a forest path on foot, I saw a bear. I quickly distanced myself and retreated. The distance to the witness was about 15 m.
