On December 6 at about 09:35, a single bear approximately 1 meter long, believed to be an adult, was seen under a persimmon tree in woodland about 280 meters northeast-east of Suwa Shrine in Sanada-machi, Ueda City, eating persimmons. No injuries were reported; officers who arrived observed the bear, which then left into the northern woods. A bear was also seen at nearly the same spot on December 5 and may be the same individual.

Around 11:30 on December 5, 2025, a resident reported an adult bear about 1 meter long that was in a persimmon tree near houses in Sanada, Ueda City, Nagano. Police and municipal staff responded, used firecrackers to drive the bear away, it returned to the mountain, and no injuries or building damage were confirmed.
