Around 12:30 on April 1, 2026, a man in his 60s at home spotted a single bear about 70 cm long on the grounds of a private house in Arifront-maeda (阿仁前田字下前田山根), Kitaakita City, Akita Prefecture. According to the Kitaakita Police, the site is about 300 meters from a nearby nursery facility.
