At around 07:10 on the 14th, a police officer on patrol spotted a single bear crossing a town road near Happō Junior High School in Happō, Akita Prefecture. The bear was about 1.5 meters long; it was roughly 70 meters from the nearest house and about 200 meters from the school, and police have warned residents to be cautious.
