Around 11:15 a.m. on the 10th, a bear about 1 meter long was spotted on a road in Togura, Minamisanriku Town, and a report was made. The bear entered a forest to the north and disappeared; no damage was reported, and the nearby Kamawarizaki campground, where a sighting occurred on the 8th, is closed until the 15th for safety.

Around 10:00 on January 8, 2026, a passerby on National Route 398 in Togura, Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, spotted a bear about 1 meter long crossing the road. The bear ran from the campground side on the east of the road toward the mountain on the opposite side; no damage to people or property was confirmed, but the nearby Kamiwari-zaki Campground closed for one week as a safety measure.

On 2026-01-08 at about 10:00, a single bear approximately 1 meter long was seen crossing National Route 398 in Togura, Minamisanriku, Miyagi Prefecture. The nearby Kamiwarizaki Campground was closed from Jan 8–15 for safety; on Jan 9 a similar bear was seen near Kitamura Elementary in Ishinomaki at about 05:50, and in Kesennuma a residence found walnuts scattered with footprints believed to be from a bear.

A bear was sighted on January 8, 2025 near the Kamiwarizaki Campground in Minamisanriku, Miyagi; the campground closed from January 9 to 15. It reopened on January 16 after no further sightings, and about 150 groups canceled during the closure.
