On November 18, 2025, Hiroshima City reported that bear claw marks were found on a persimmon tree in the Yoshiyama area of Numata, Asaminami Ward. City staff and bear rangers inspected the site in the morning after a resident report, confirmed claw marks likely made several days earlier, and urged residents to dispose promptly of persimmons they do not intend to eat.
